But nowadays, literacy encompasses the knowledge and skills students need to access, understand, analyse and evaluate information, make meaning, express thoughts and emotions, present ideas and opinions, interact with others and participate in activities at school and in their lives beyond school.

Education in Indonesia: Literacy is the Key to Learning. So, In order to create and realize the National Literacy Movement, Senior High School 2 north Cikarang, known as SMANDA, holds literacy day not only every month but also every day. This is arranged to raise up the eagerness of students in reading.
In the begining of the class, they read some short surah, which are existed in the last juz, the 30th juz. Means, Jus Amma must be in their bag to school. After the first break, at 10.00 A.M, before beginning the 5th lesson,for some minutes, they are supposed to read, such as novels, science books, etc. Any books which can be their inspiration of lives. Mostly, they read novels; detectives, romans, etc; because these are kinds of easy to read. And they do these everyday, 5 days in a week.
The montly literacy, usually is held in the second week of the month. We call it Morning Literacy. Here, students gather in the school yard. Guided by bu LILI APRILIANI, assissted by the other teachers, the students read their literature in silence. They keep continuing the literature which they haven’t finished reading. The end of that session, some of the students are asked to give their testimonials about the literature they just read, usually, 3-4 students come forward. To let the students focus on what they do,of course, never forget to do, Morning Literacy always begins with prayer, Al-Fatihah, and ends with Hamdallah.
With these, we will know that SMANDA does not only for the world but also the hereafter.
